Stepping into PetroChina Yunnan Petrochemical Co., Ltd., within its 300-hectare plant area, there is no deafening roar nor the sight of workers sweating profusely. Against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds, towering towers/tanks and crisscrossing pipelines present a stunning industrial beauty, demonstrating the enterprise’s robust development momentum.
云南石化炼油项目位于昆明市安宁工业园区,于2017年8月28日建成投产,是中国石油“十三五”期间唯一投产的新建大型炼厂,改善了我国西南油气引进和加工的战略格局,对于推进“一带一路”建设、保障国家能源安全、促进云南经济社会发展具有重要意义。
The Yunnan Petrochemical Refining Project is situated in Anning Industrial Park, Kunming. It was completed and put into operation on August 28, 2017, and is the only new large-scale refinery put into operation by PetroChina during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. It has optimized China’s strategic pattern for the import and processing of oil and gas in the southwest region, and holds great significance for advancing the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", safeguarding national energy security, and promoting Yunnan’s economic and social development.
进入“十四五”,中国石油加大转型升级和结构调整力度,瞄准高端化、智能化、绿色化方向发展。2023年5月,云南石化数字化转型项目启动建设,2025年8月通过中国石油上线验收,着力打造智能化工厂。
Entering the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, PetroChina has intensified efforts in transformation, upgrading, and structural adjustment, focusing on the development direction of high-endization, intellectualization, and greenization. In May 2023, Yunnan Petrochemical launched the construction of its digital transformation project, which passed the online acceptance inspection by PetroChina in August 2025, aiming to build an intelligent factory.
“智能化升级的核心在于全厂17套生产装置的22个生产单元,全部使用全流程智能控制系统(IPC系统)。”公司规划和科技信息部副主任谢皆群介绍,系统由中国石油联合北京世纪隆博科技有限责任公司、高校团队自主研发,开发的400余项功能、64个核心算法模型,覆盖计划排产、生产执行、设备运维、安全环保等全流程,融合设计数据、运行数据和管理数据,是具备自学习、自诊断、自适应能力的“智慧大脑”。
"The core of the intelligent upgrading lies in the application of a full-process intelligent control system (IPC System) in all 22 production units of the 17 production plants across the entire refinery," said Xie Jiequn, Deputy Director of the Company’s Planning, Science and Technology Information Department. Jointly developed by PetroChina, Beijing Shijilongbo Technology Co., Ltd., and university teams, the system features over 400 functions and 64 core algorithm models, covering the entire process of production planning and scheduling, production execution, equipment operation and maintenance, and safety and environmental protection. It integrates design data, operation data, and management data, serving as an "intelligent brain" with self-learning, self-diagnosis, and self-adaptation capabilities.
在重整装置内操室,班长杨攀面前的监控屏上一条绿色曲线匀速上升,这是当日炼化原油提升计划——从240吨提升到250吨,全程约10小时。“过去这样的操作,需要内外配合,手动调节多个阀门,参数波动时还需人工干预。”杨攀指着屏幕说,“如今,一旦数据异常,IPC系统会自动进行弹性调节,四合一炉出口温度控制在±0.5℃以内。”
In the central control room of the reforming unit, a green curve on the monitoring screen in front of Team Leader Yang Pan rises at a steady pace—this represents the day’s crude oil refining increase plan, raising the output from 240 tons to 250 tons over approximately 10 hours. "In the past, such an operation required coordination between on-site and central control personnel to manually adjust multiple valves, and manual intervention was still needed when parameters fluctuated," Yang Pan pointed to the screen and said. "Now, if there is any data abnormality, the IPC System will automatically make flexible adjustments, controlling the outlet temperature of the four-in-one furnace within a range of ±0.5℃."
“以常减压装置为例,过去因原料波动,操作员需频繁调整参数。”炼油一部党支部书记、副主任王耀全介绍,如今IPC系统通过嵌入式神经网络,实时比对传感器数据与在线机理模型,自动校正传热系数漂移,精度提升超40%。当原油成分变化时,系统能自主调节加热炉温度、塔压等10余个变量,维持全流程平衡。
"Take the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit as an example. In the past, due to fluctuations in raw materials, operators had to frequently adjust parameters," introduced Wang Yaoquan, Secretary of the Party Branch and Deputy Director of the First Refining Department. Nowadays, the IPC System uses embedded neural networks to compare sensor data with online mechanism models in real time, automatically correcting the drift of heat transfer coefficients, resulting in an accuracy improvement of over 40%. When the composition of crude oil changes, the system can independently adjust more than 10 variables such as heating furnace temperature and tower pressure to maintain the balance of the entire process.
“就像人走路,即使地面不平也能调整步伐,这就是‘自愈式控制’。”谢皆群说。IPC系统投运后,装置综合能耗显著下降。以连续重整装置为例,能耗降低16%,报警次数减少超90%,员工巡检劳动强度大幅下降。据测算,此项技术让全厂年节约能耗费用约1亿元。
"It’s like a person walking—even if the ground is uneven, one can adjust their steps. This is what we call ‘self-healing control’," Xie Jiequn said. Since the commissioning of the IPC System, the comprehensive energy consumption of the units has decreased significantly. For instance, the energy consumption of the continuous reforming unit has dropped by 16%, the number of alarms has reduced by over 90%, and the labor intensity of employees’ patrol inspections has been greatly lowered. It is estimated that this technology saves the refinery approximately 100 million yuan in annual energy costs.
智能控制的背后,是海量数据的顺畅流动与深度挖掘。为此,云南石化搭建了平台化、服务化、敏捷化的工业互联网架构。“我们构建了一座数据池。”谢皆群介绍,“过去系统孤立,数据共享困难。如今,工艺监测点、装备无线传感器、智能仪表等数据全部汇聚至平台,全流程数据驱动、智能协同,彻底打破了信息孤岛。”
Behind intelligent control lies the smooth flow and in-depth mining of massive amounts of data. To this end, Yunnan Petrochemical has built an industrial internet architecture characterized by platformization, service-oriented, and agility. "We have constructed a data pool," Xie Jiequn explained. "In the past, systems were isolated, making data sharing difficult. Now, data from process monitoring points, equipment wireless sensors, and intelligent instruments are all aggregated on the platform, enabling full-process data-driven and intelligent collaboration, which has completely broken down information silos."
依托该项目,云南石化从职能驱动转向流程驱动、从经验驱动转向模型驱动,其创新实践不仅推动了国内炼化产业升级,也为全球石化行业贡献了领先的“中国方案”。IPC系统已在辽阳石化、天津石化、大庆石化、兰州石化、独山子石化等29家石油化工企业推广应用。
Relying on this project, Yunnan Petrochemical has shifted from function-driven to process-driven, and from experience-driven to model-driven. Its innovative practices have not only promoted the upgrading of China’s domestic refining and chemical industry but also contributed a leading "Chinese solution" to the global petrochemical industry. The IPC System has been promoted and applied in 29 petrochemical enterprises, including Liaoyang Petrochemical, Tianjin Petrochemical, Daqing Petrochemical, Lanzhou Petrochemical, and Dushanzi Petrochemical.
2025年9月,公司入选云南省2025年度先进级智能工厂名单。目前,云南石化正加快推进数字孪生工厂建设——以热点模型、基础数据构建“秒级刷新”的虚拟炼厂。未来,增强现实技术眼镜(AR眼镜)将助力工程师“透视”地下管线,预测性维护全面取代定期检修,人工智能机器人(AI机器人)将在高危区域替代人工巡检,一座生产装备、生产过程、生产经营全面智能化的新型工厂初具雏形。
In September 2025, the company was included in Yunnan Province’s 2025 List of Advanced-Level Intelligent Factories. Currently, Yunnan Petrochemical is accelerating the construction of a digital twin factory—building a "second-level refresh" virtual refinery based on thermal models and basic data. In the future, augmented reality (AR) glasses will help engineers "see through" underground pipelines, predictive maintenance will completely replace regular inspections, and artificial intelligence (AI) robots will replace manual inspections in high-risk areas. A new-type factory with full intelligence in production equipment, production processes, and production and operation is taking initial shape.
